Healthcare for Missouri is a coalition that educated voters on the need to expand the state’s medicaid eligibility requirements as prescribed in Amendment 2 on the August 2020 ballot. Missouri voters put Medicaid expansion into Missouri’s state constitution by that public vote of 53.25% to 46.75%. The group issued the statement below regarding today’s hearing in the Circuit Court of Cole County:

“Today’s hearing marks another step forward in ensuring that more than 275,000 Missourians can enroll in and receive benefits under the Medicaid program. Voters spoke loud and clear in favor of Amendment 2 last August. The focus now must be on the people who deserve to have access to healthcare on July 1st.

The constitution is clear: individuals eligible for Medicaid as a result of Amendment 2 cannot be treated differently. Our coalition remains confident that the courts will uphold that position.”
